In December, UT students submitted a rig design for SPE DSATS drilling competition which will occur in the late spring of 2015. The design was accepted for the competition. Sorry for the blurry picture or our rig. We will certainly sharpen it up before the competition and repost it here.
Now, UT students have one semester and $10,000 to assemble, build and control their proposed nanoRIG which must autonomously drill a hole through a heterogeneous 60cm cube of material provided by DSATS. Stay tuned to see how the team does.
